The number of fake profile are increasing in linkiedin as Linkedin restricts the number of persons which would be added to a single account.  Linkedin restricts adding people "linkedin"who are not known to the user. When an account is started on linkedin, it asks for your gmail, yahoo or Hotmail id. From there it picks the users who are already registered with linkedin. It sends invitations to them to be added as your friend. You may invite peopledirectly  if you know their email id. Then from their friends, Linkedin suggests some connections for you. You would simply add them even if you do not know them. But later it puts restrictions, if you repeat this. So you would add only few people with this.  So if one id is restricted, There is no other way other than registering a new account with linkedin. In this restricted scenario, Fake profiles are sprouting in Linkedin. It needs necessary measures either to remove this restriction of put a restriction on these fake profiles.
